The effects of these procedures can be very effective but in the wrong hands are potentially harmful.
Tooth whitening uses a safe bleaching process involving small concentrations of carbamide peroxide. This creates a chemical reaction that releases oxygen molecules which break down stain molecules in the enamel and dentine. Over regular use, the whitening agent breaks down more and more stains until a beautiful white shade is achieved after a couple of weeks.
Dentist-supervised home whitening is the safer and more affordable whitening treatment available. There is less chance of sensitivity and if there is an issue, you have the control to stop the treatment when you want. As the home whitening trays are custom-made using scans of your teeth, they fit snugly and ensure an even result.
Although this treatment is carried out at home, we still keep a close eye on your teeth to lessen any gum irritation and tooth sensitivity.
Please note, teeth whitening will only work on natural teeth and will not be effective on restorations such as crowns, veneers or dentures.
