Having a gap in your smile can really knock confidence. Even if it is just a single missing tooth, it can really make you conscious when you smile. Implants provide a long-lasting solution to gaps. They can be used in place of the original tooth root, supporting replacements that appear so life-like, no one will know the difference. Implants can also be used to support dentures, giving stability to replacement teeth.

Did you know?
More than three million people currently have dental implants and counting

As more than 500,000 get an implant each year. It’s a procedure that’s becoming more and more common.

Not everything has a 98 percent success rate, but dental implants do. Most people are good candidates for the procedure, and there is no age limit for them. Follow your dentist’s advice and take care of your dental implants, and your implants will likely have the same results.

What are implants?

Made from titanium, dental implants are posts that are placed in the jaw. They act just like natural tooth roots and become fused to the jaw bone over time. This makes them incredibly secure, able to fully support a crown for a single missing tooth or a bridge to replace multiple teeth.

Why have implants?

Implants are the best solution to missing teeth because they benefit overall oral health as well as help appearance. Having a missing tooth can cause the jaw bone to gradually degrade, as the tooth root is not there to act as a foundation. Implants prevent this, encouraging the jaw bone to grow, helping with facial structure as well as support.

How can implants help?

While there are other treatments that can replace missing teeth, such as bridges and dentures, implants offer a more secure alternative. Implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth and will go in the place of the original tooth root. Similarly, if more than one tooth is missing in a row, an implant can support a custom-made bridge.

We can also use implants to support dentures. If you currently wear dentures and would prefer a more reliable replacement, your dentures can be adjusted to fit onto implants.

Can I have implants?

Implants need a suitable amount of bone density to be most effective. When you decide to have implant treatment, we’ll want to get a good look at your jaw and supporting structures. We will look at 3D scans and intraoral cameras to fully assess your suitability. If possible, we can arrange for bone grafting treatment to replenish lost bone.
